Alicante

Alicante brings a castle-topped skyline, an old centre and a city beach into one Mediterranean break. The appeal lies in changing the pace without a complicated journey: sightseeing above the rooftops, a walk beneath palms and time by the water. It can suit a short city escape or become one base within a longer Costa Blanca holiday.

A closer look

Find your own rhythm in Alicante.

Santa Bárbara Castle is the historic landmark above the city and a natural place to appreciate Alicante’s coastal position. The Explanada de España offers a gentler experience at street level, with its patterned promenade and palm-lined setting. Postiguet Beach puts sand and sea beside the urban centre, making it easy to add coastal time to a sightseeing day. These places show three different aspects of Alicante; leave room to explore the streets between them instead of moving straight from one landmark to the next.

How to enjoy your time here

Compare beach proximity with the walk and transport to the old town. Check the current ways to access the castle, especially if a steep walk would be difficult. A few nights offer a useful introduction, with extra days for a slower beach routine. Compare accommodation by its precise location rather than using the city name alone.

Solo travellers can start with one main activity and time to explore. Couples can keep a free evening in the plan. Families can build in shorter outings and breaks. Groups should agree a few shared priorities and check room and transport arrangements together.

Walking & access planning

We have not yet added a destination-specific official access resource to this guide. This does not mean the destination is unsuitable. Ask the accommodation, transport operator and each attraction about the exact access features you need.

A guide or accessible feature does not establish access for the whole trip. Confirm doorways, steps, gradients, walking distances, bathrooms, lifts, transfers and any assistance directly with the relevant provider.
