Halkidiki

Halkidiki spreads across peninsulas on the northern Aegean coast, mixing beach holidays with pine-covered landscapes and small seaside settlements. The first planning decision is which part of the region suits you: it is a broad area, with different resort styles and journeys between them. Some visitors want a lively base with facilities close by; others prefer a quieter beach and fewer moves. Start with that choice and the holiday becomes much easier to shape.

A closer look

Find your own rhythm in Halkidiki.

Kassandra is a useful starting point for comparing established resort areas, beaches and evening options. Sithonia offers another stretch of coast to investigate, with bays and villages that reward choosing a particular area rather than trying to see everything.

Ouranoupoli sits near the gateway to the Mount Athos area and has its own waterfront atmosphere. It is a separate outing, not simply another stop along one continuous resort strip. These three names represent different parts of Halkidiki, so use them to narrow your plans before searching for individual hotels or apartments.

How to enjoy your time here

Choose one peninsula as your main base and check transfer times against your actual arrival point. If you want to explore more widely, compare car hire with available local services before booking. Leave full beach days between longer outings. Any plans connected with Mount Athos need separate research into the relevant permits, restrictions and operator arrangements; do not assume access is unrestricted.

Walking & access planning

We have not yet added a destination-specific official access resource to this guide. This does not mean the destination is unsuitable. Ask the accommodation, transport operator and each attraction about the exact access features you need.

A guide or accessible feature does not establish access for the whole trip. Confirm doorways, steps, gradients, walking distances, bathrooms, lifts, transfers and any assistance directly with the relevant provider.
