Maspalomas

Maspalomas is closely associated with Gran Canaria’s distinctive dune landscape, but its wider holiday area also includes established resorts and contrasting seafront settings. It suits a beach-led stay with room for long coastal views and relaxed walks. Choose the exact area carefully, since being in Maspalomas does not automatically mean the beach or promenade is just outside your door.

A closer look

Find your own rhythm in Maspalomas.

Maspalomas Dunes provide the defining landscape, best appreciated while following designated routes and conservation guidance. Maspalomas Lighthouse is the recognisable coastal landmark and a useful focal point for understanding the southern seafront. Meloneras Promenade offers a more developed waterside setting for walking and meals. Together these places show the relationship between protected scenery and resort life. Give the dune area respectful space, then enjoy the change of pace around the lighthouse and promenade rather than treating the whole coast as an unrestricted walking route.

How to enjoy your time here

Choose the exact area carefully because resort distances affect beach access. Check the actual route from your accommodation, including any transport you may need. Follow current local guidance in protected areas and on the beach. A longer stay can combine a quiet coastal routine with a small number of island outings, each given realistic journey time.

Walking & access planning

We have not yet added a destination-specific official access resource to this guide. This does not mean the destination is unsuitable. Ask the accommodation, transport operator and each attraction about the exact access features you need.

A guide or accessible feature does not establish access for the whole trip. Confirm doorways, steps, gradients, walking distances, bathrooms, lifts, transfers and any assistance directly with the relevant provider.
