Savannah

Savannah invites a slower kind of city visit, with leafy squares, historic streets and a waterfront that changes the mood as you approach the river. It is a destination where the route between places can be as enjoyable as the stop itself. Leave time for architecture, a park bench and a relaxed meal, while making space to learn the deeper history behind the attractive setting.

A closer look

Find your own rhythm in Savannah.

Forsyth Park makes an appealing open-air starting point, with broad paths and a familiar fountain setting. Savannah Historic District offers a network of squares and streets that reward a self-paced walk, ideally with some historical context along the way.

River Street adds another layer through old commercial buildings, waterfront activity and views of passing shipping. The movement from the squares down towards the river is part of the experience, but steps, cobbles and slopes deserve attention. Choose a route that lets you explore comfortably instead of trying to cover every square before the end of the day.

How to enjoy your time here

A central base can make it easier to return for a break between walks and an evening meal. Check the actual route to the waterfront if steps or uneven surfaces affect your group. Choose a manageable number of historic interiors, leaving time outdoors between them. Keep part of the day flexible for weather changes or a neighbourhood you would like to explore longer.

Walking & access planning

We have not yet added a destination-specific official access resource to this guide. This does not mean the destination is unsuitable. Ask the accommodation, transport operator and each attraction about the exact access features you need.

A guide or accessible feature does not establish access for the whole trip. Confirm doorways, steps, gradients, walking distances, bathrooms, lifts, transfers and any assistance directly with the relevant provider.
